About IPCN

Overview

Purpose

The Indiana Pathways to College Network advances college access programming by convening college access program personnel and college access researchers in an ongoing series of meetings, discussions, and exchanges. Administered by Encouragement Services, Inc., with grant support from Lumina Foundation for Education and Lilly Endowment, the network seeks to
  • apply research-based knowledge to the practical problems of college access practitioners
  • facilitate communication and collaboration between and among college access programs
  • inform policy makers of the accomplishments and challenges of college access programs in Indiana
  • create a distribution system for national college access efforts by providing mechanisms for adapting national best practices, diffusing research findings, and reporting successes
  • serve as a conduit for members to receive grant opportunities, expert consultation, and technical assistance from national college access networks
In sum, the network exists to support, enhance, and advance college access programming in Indiana.

Activities

Meetings The network convenes on a quarterly basis. Each meeting highlights Indiana initiatives in college access programming, provides research perspectives on college access issues, and engages participants with innovations and best practices from around the country.

Annual Conference The network hosts an annual conference that showcases Indiana college access programs, highlights relevant research, and enriches college access programs with ideas, resources, and expertise.

Communications The network provides a quarterly electronic newsletter to Indiana practitioners and researchers. In addition, the network provides a website and an e-mail listserv on behalf of Indiana college access programs, their personnel, and college access researchers.

College Access Report IPCN produces an annual “state of college access” report for policy-makers, advocates, and colleagues of the network.
